One of my favorite PS1 jrpgs. 2 is also pretty good. Xtreme was meh to me, even though the combat was still fun from what I rememeber, and 4 disappointed me.

This and skies of arcadia are my 2 favorite JRPGs. Maybe it was because I was younger but the feeling of being on a grand adventure was pretty great in those. I played FFVIII and IX aswell but for some reason they didn't feel as good. I think it was because the story had a slightly darker tone in FF.

If you haven't played them check out Lunar 1 and 2. They were precursors to Grandia and fall under that same "adventurous JRPG" bracket minus the awkward 3D.

I'm trying to think of one Jrpg on the X360, Xbone, PS3, PS4 or PC that comes even close to it and not even a single one comes to mind... The closest thing would be either Ni No Kuni or Lost Odyssey but to me these 2 are more like 7/10 and 6/10 games. Then there's Xenoblade but the series in genral are some of the most overrated games in history. There's also Persona 5 but that game's more like a visual novel with some gameplay on the side, so not quiet the same.

There's a shit ton of goo Jrpg's on the PS2 tho.

Because you can't really remaster PS1 games short of remaking them. Grandia 2 got the Anniversary Edition which is about as close as you'll get with older assets.

Lost Odyssey was great. The combat could've used some spice, but overall i really enjoyed it.
