Blur is goat arcadey racer. Shame it slipped into obscurity. 100%ing the single player was a real fucking challenge.

Split/Second <<< Blur

Split//Second is good for a single playthrough and has zero variation per track, as well as arcadey and unvolving vehicle controls. Blur has surprising fucking amounts of depth, EXTREMELY balanced powerups system as well as requiers the player to hold a good raceline and have good control over the vehicle, all the while managing powerups. It's the best fucking cart racer I've ever played, and I've got something like 300 hours in it. It's extremely underappreciated for no reason other than the D class and mud tracks being pretty shitty for what you start the game with. I'm fucking pissed Blur 2 got canned.

There was this game, Alicia Online, which was basically Mario Kart with horses, complete with horse breeding n shit. It's been down for a while, but fans brought it back up.

good post. I wonder why it slipped under the radar? Maybe the slightly outdated/colorful styled graphics. People were bonering over racing game graphics at the time because photorealism was finally a thing. Blur wasn't that great visually but the gameplay is goat, no one even gave it a chance
