I always liked to imagine that the diamonds they made from those ashes were in a form of "dog tags". Each of which are micro engraved with some sort of infomation of their fallen comrades.

the shining diamond on your arm patch was a really nice touch, people complained about V not having much detail like the older ones but I disagree, there's quite a lot of hidden cool stuff
