Halo is overrated. You have half the game with new environments and then second half doing backtracking. Even last mission is just reskinned first mission. Temple surroundings look boring and bland, and it takes 1/4th of the game, it's basically the same bunker copied and pasted dozen times. There were couple of nice touches, like watching recorded log mission from dead soldier, or when Cortana has a dispute with the flying cube, but other than that it's pretty much boring. What's worse, the way Warthog handles is pure shit. It turns with delay and with camera controls, not your typical strafe buttons. I'd say Crysis has bigger heart than Halo. The only good parts are AI of the enemies and than sometimes you can make Flood fight against Covenant, so you can slip through. Looking for marines was ok, rest is bland. I can not find a reason why this game was praised so much.

What? Tsavo is a big long road which occasionally opens up when you need to circle a Wraith and the Storm is an indoor level with 2 cut and paste rectangular arenas. They are no more open than the second half of Outskirts and Metropolis.

The Gas Mine duo and High Charity are not stellar but on average Halo 2 is a lot better than 3. To be fair most of that can be attributed to how boring 3's incarnation of Brutes are to fight.
