I'm disappointed by the lack of horses. Cantha better have unicorns and Pegasus.

Thinking of getting back into the game, this expansion looks decent. I gave up just before HoT, had everything I needed but the Chronomancer seemed awfully boring and flavorless. Mirage at least seems decent and offers a somewhat unique twist on a base mechanic.

No idea if it's worth it though, I missed a shitton of content already and I worry for the game's late game.

I feel guards are more well rounded compared to warriors, and a desired class in WvW zergs. Warriors can have mobility builds topped only by thieves, except you sacrifice capability for survival. If you avoid that particular setup, warriors can be versatile.

Go guard, btw. Staff 1 is farming mode, good in pve and wvw. You support zerg spamming shouts and yourself spamming 1.

Mirage looks super cool. I've been trying to analyze the reveal videos. Axe autoattacks seem to inflict confusion. They also seem to have some kind of preofession mechanic or utility skill that makes you and your clones do a special attack.

Every class get a second weapon set or a skill that functions as a seperate weapon adding another 5 skills and most of them have a 3rd skill bar "toolbelt", and there's combo field mechanics.

There's mentions of wild horses in the charr lands in one of the books, mounted knight floats/wooden cutouts in the carnival areas, a noble talking somewhere about how a carving of an equestrian scene reminds him too much of centaurs, and something else more recent (and more specific) that I cant recall. Horses are around, people (at least used to) ride them, but they've fallen out of favor for some reason (my guess being waypoints being faster and dolyaks being stronger for hauling shit.)

Not either of them, but I'll try.

I only just started playing after playing beta pre launch (and guild wars 1) and was disappointed. Step dad got the game (never played GW1) and enjyoed the leveling process. I started playing ~2 weeks ago, hes long since stopped.

Leveling has been incredibly fun if you ignore hearts. Exploring zones and doing the world missions that are interesting has been more than enough to get me a couple of max level characters. The writing is pretty bad in the main story up to level 80, though HoT gets somewhat better. Dont get me wrong its still pretty damn shitty writing but it isnt atrocious for MMOs.

Skills are tied to weapons, though most classes have 2 weapons that you can swap between, or like an ele has 4 attunements that each have 6 skills . same with revenant. engineer has weapons that they can drop and pick up that give them a few more options.

HoT content has been pretty fun, though im only at chapter 14 out of 16. I wasnt a big fan of forced masteries, but its given a reason to hang out in the world and do events rather than spending my time in a city in LFG like ive done in other MMOs.

world pvp is still a zergfest, though ive enjoyed it. as a warning though its too complicated imo so ive just been sticking to a group.

They kinda brought back the trinity with elite specs. Rangers are now the healers while mesmers are geared towards tanking. I would think the next expansion ones would gear other classes towards more support roles as well.

I havent tried sPvP so I cant really comment on that.

Maps have been hit and miss. Some feel big for the sake of being big, cities being the worst example of this, though the art style and most of the maps are gorgeous.

I never fell in love with Chronomancer, despite using it 100% of the time. A lot of its traits just felt like bandaid fixes to the base class, like superspeed to illusions, a flat movespreed increase, and better illusion generation. The most flavorful traits, the Slow traits, are inferior to the fixes above. Base Mesmer is just inferior.
Also, Alacrity isn't even unique to them anymore.

Warrior is sanic with Sword/Warhorn and Greatsword

Guardian's the only class without a passive that improves movement speed for atleast 25%.

It's not just that you're a warrior using low slash you're a DRAGON KNIGHT using MAGMA GOUGE and you're not just a rogue using poison you're NIGHTBLADE using SOUL LEECH or something.

But to be fair, they probably only did that to differentiate their warrior/rogue archetypes from their benign weapon skills and to make them feel unique. It's hard to do given the setting.

It's not so much tanking as it is drawing the aggro and moving the bosses around, bosses tend to focus the player with the most toughness and only a few bosses deal damage exclusively to the tank.
Chronos still do their support stuff while tanking, distortion coupled with their low dps makes them the perfect class for the role.
