The game forces you to group up for a dungeon every few hours. It's actually one of the more group focused MMOs, at least for its 1st leveling experience.

I don't know how a lengthy MSQ can be a downside in the first place. If you were a functioning human being, you would come into the game wanting to do the MSQ considering its a fucking FF MMO. Or do you think all the FFXI memes about Prishe and co. were all because of the riveting raid content.

Guild Wars 2 is free to play and buy to play right? Doesn't that mean that tons of BRs and other third world scum infest the servers including bots? Also what's stopping them from withholding all their real gameplay content for expansions only? Expansions and cash shop must be their primary source of revenue. So it makes sense to withhold all the stuff behind paid expansions and the only updates players get besides expansions are cash shop updates and minor bug fixes.
