When you start out, don't bother relieving stress. Toss the fuckers by the wayside and recruit another soon-to-be-corpse. Claw your way through the lvl 1 - 2 dungeons, saving gold and building up the stagecoach until you can start recruiting lvl 3 heroes who START with all abilities, weapons and armor at lvl 3, saving you tons of money. THEN and only then do start wasting time destressing.

The game literally told you this. You have to be a cruel taskmaster and the heroes are your disposable tools. Just throw a bunch of randoms into the dungeon, grab as much loot as you can until one dies or goes insane, retreat, recruit new set of heroes. Repeat.

By not getting hit by Bloodsuckers. The vampire curse is basically Malaria, theres a chance every mosquito bite gives you a disease you can't fully cure. You can only cure it when you beat a Courtyard boss.

Make sure to always have at least one stress healer in your party comp at all times. (Jester, HoundMaster, Crusader) Unless something goes full retard I usually leave every dungeon with less than 20 stress on everyone because I just have my jester singing songs the entire time or my crusader showing his flag to everyone.

Focus on getting heirlooms at first. You want to upgrade roster size, the guild and the blacksmith. You don't really need to upgrade the others at all until later. You can convert the heirlooms you don't need into more valuable ones like deeds with a button at the bottom of the screen.

When heroes level up, they gain an increase in resistances and only the ability to upgrade their gear, which increases dmg, hp, dodge, and their abilities, which will increase things like hit chance. So they really only get stronger once you spend on upgrading them.

Your success in dungeons is mostly going to come down to party composition. You have to select members with skills that have good synergy together, that are adapted to each dungeon's challenges. For example heroes that do extra damage vs marked enemies combined with heroes that can mark enemies will obviously work well together. Spend some time learning the different heroes' abilities/strengths and weaknesses, experiment with different set ups.

Once you're actually in the dungeons, your success will mainly come down the the composition that you chose before you walked in - the battles themselves are mostly routine, carrying out what you planned beforehand. In general you want to focus down stress dealers in the backrow first, and go from there. If you can, get the enemy down to two enemies and keep them stunned - that way they can't call for reinforcements (they can only get reinforcements when there is one enemy left), and you can heal your party while they're immobilized. When you're starting out take a lot of provisions and keep your torch maxed out. Choose missions based on which will get you the best trinkets. Ones that increase damage are usually the best. If you're playing the DLC, build sanguine vinters as soon as possible.

Use the autism strat: if you become afflicted, and get your heroes down to 0 stress afterwards within in the dungeon, the affliction disappears. So if you can keep two enemies stunlocked while skipping turns with the hero you want to become virtuous, you can keep building up to stress with 100 with them and reducing it to 0 with a jester until your roll a virtue (which is a 25% chance)
