hello friends let me tell you about a video game

this game had a spectacularly long development cycle, this was possible because it was being self-published and the devs used their own capital to fund development. There was a bit of a revolving door of developers working on it, many left after they realized the game probably wouldn't ever get released.

Why?

Because the lead developer (who had complete creative control over the game) focused more on adding more features to the game than actually finishing it. The very act of finishing it was impossible anyway because the game was poorly planned/not planned at all, so there literally was no end in sight. Every time the lead dev played a new game he insisted on adding features from it to the current one.

Eventually, they ran out of money and handed the frankenstein piece of shit to someone else.

That game was Duke Nukem Forever.

In Eva's chat, there was a young girl called Sisefs. She spent time flirting with people and the only person to give her any notice was Eva.

I just find it endlessly amusing that he put off working on the motherfucking core gameplay for several years, opting to add little details here and there instead. A regular developer would've had a placeholder rival going to placeholder locations according to a placeholder schedule with a placeholder interaction tree up and running as soon as possible and build upon that, Eva decided it's better to make the pretty shell first and start figuring out the skeleton from there.
