This game could've been so great if it weren't for the horrendous World Tour mode. The most repetitive, pointless nonsense mode ever, and it was the only way to unlock most characters. It was SO MUCH FUN wasting a whole hour on trying to clear ONE MISSION with an A-rank. On top of that, after you A-ranked everything, it unlocked the S-rank, requiring you to clear EVERY EXERCISE AGAIN. Hard fucking pass on that.

World Tour was insanely good for practice. There's a handful of missions that are legit hard but if you can't S Rank 90% of them without any issues you would get absolutely destroyed online.

The waves are on a global cycle so outside of time trials you will almost never hit the patterns you want or expect to and some of them let you be way faster than others too so people that get "lucky" with them have an advantage even if they are further behind and just worse in general. There's some strange choices for playable characters for sure. Danica is just the tip of the iceberg.

However, this game reminded me Kart racers could actually be fun, and powerups don't have to punish players for being good. So I'll forgive the wacky roster.

Transformed is one of the best kart racers ever made.
It's pretty much entirely skill based, there are no blue shells that just randomly fuck you over for doing well and it's not uncommon for someone to have an absurd lead if he's just that much better than the others.
