When they were originally designed they were complicated out of necessity due to controller limitations. Now a days they're mostly a relic of the past, while smash brothers is not a fighting game it's control scheme is what a modern fighting game should look like in my opinion.

Yea, it is just for fun and to dick around. Big Band have a 5 bar super move that basically just waste half of it so you can play a little tune to troll the other guy off in frozen time before finishing him off.

I used to use Autohotkey on online matches and people honestly thought I was just that good. Didn't need to learn shit and completely skip the sucking ass phase of the game. I just need to make sure the first two attacks hit and the script did the rest. A cancel button also was part of it just in case.

Don't inputs these days have like 3 or 4 frames of grace? more in some cases? It's literally not hard to do a quarter circle. Me, my friends, fuck, even my younger brother learned how to do it at 10 and we all play with a D-pad.

it took me maybe 30 minutes to figure out how to do dp and fireballs. The hardest part about fighting games is learning to play on the opposite side, as in, the one you're not comfortable with. After you get that it's, well, fatal1ty says it best.
