Set it to very easy and blow through it for the story. Hard difficulty only makes the garbage combat last longer. Which is bad.

Yes. I started and dropped the game twice for the same reason. Now I take it for what it is. Relatively speaking, the gameplay is trash, but if you can force yourself to move past that, there's a beautiful open world to explore that's full of engaging characters and some of the best quests I've ever played. I'm about 20 hours deep in my third attempt now and having a blast.

Okay, let's set the record straight. It's a 9/10 game overall with all the DLCs.

HOWEVER

Heartstone was a letdown for me. Not because it just expanded upon an existing area. Not because it was short. Not because you couldn't go the distance with Shani. No, because of how poorly Gaunter O'Dimm was written. Now hear me out, I know that at this point the butthurt is rising up in you. Look, at first I found him interesting because he was kind of like a morally ambiguous version of Tom Bombadil. He was powerful but he also had his power limited by certain rules and that made sense to me. But to break his cardinal rule, not to directly involve himself into fate of the mortals but only to act through a proxy was the biggest mistake CDPR ever did, apart from the E3 downgrade. After he did the whole Za Warudo schtick it made the character cheap and petty and it ruined him completely for me. What it communicated to me is that all the previous shit was just a cheap gimmick and we wanted the le randumb crowd. Words cannot express how disappointed I was.

Fortunately, B&W picked me right up and even introduced by far my favourite character from the novels, motherfucking Regis. B&W alone was worth the price of admission.
