That's kinda sad, GMDX 9 came out recently, so I gave Deus Ex another run on Hardcore and have fucking blast, getting old doesn't have much of other benefits.

I like how deus ex looks, have this nice clean feel to it.

The game looks fine with GMDX 9.0.

For a medium that supposedly should thrive on its audience's ingenuity, game players are the least flexible, least flexible, and slow-witted retards I've ever seen. Maybe it is this current generation of fags that are molly coddled, but playing an old game just requires a different frame of mind, rather than just being a punk pussy. I love good graphics, but not on the expense of gameplay. Sometimes when all the budget and time goes on developing the game engine, the devs might not have enough time to work on the things that make the game itself good. DX looked dated even when it was released, but the content was pure gold and that's why it's still remembered as one of the greatest games ever.

Also, don't hold your breath for HD remake, that won't happen without complete casualization and censoring these days. Picture related, good luck trying to have modern gamers deal with this shit.

Its not the graphics anon. Some games aged horribly. deus ex, system shock 2 (but strangely not 1) and morrowind on top of my head are borderline unenjoyable since early 3d tends to be mechanicly as visually dogshit. Strangely, consoles dont suffer such problems for example silent hills.

What game? Because if Skyrim or another aplicable RPG, that's how stats work. Even in tabletop RPGs. Once your stealth stat is high enough, you can get away with all types of shenanigans. Because the game world is dictated by numbers. So it doesn't matter if the enemy irl could plainly see you. Your stealth roll beats their perception roll, so for all intents and purposes you're invisible.

I didn't finish the game, but I remember it feeling and playing like any other cover based third person shooter of the last few years. I might give it another try some day, but I heard the *point* of the game was exactly supposed to be that "war is repetitive and not fun at all", which to me sounds like 2deep4u bullshit excuse for making a generic war shooter.
There's plenty of real war games that show the horrors of war without resorting into meta shit. ARMA is pretty much a military simulation, no Rambo shit, and it gets the point very bluntly when the player realizes it's mostly just walking through empty fields and dying on paper cuts.

If a game is like a 10/10 but I don't like the art-design then I refuse to play it. I especially can't get into games with that art-style that games like borderlands have where it's kinda cel-shaded but not full on cell-shaded. The way I see it, if a game has 1 aspect that is appealing and it makes good use of it- great. There's plenty of excellent games with just well designed gameplay and a tacked-on story, and plenty of excellent games where the story is the focus and the gameplay is bad

I agree that visuals are important, but again, it can either be great graphics, or a great artstyle- at the end of the day it needs to be visually appealing in some way and be part of the presentation, atmosphere and worldbuilding.

The graphics of Deux Ex aren't great, but the game looks coherent to itself, you can 'sense' the style of the world around you
