I can admit that it has faults and could have been (was, at one point) better, and that the wait for the rest of the game to roll out through patches and DLC is excruciating. The anime is merely backstory stuff that they created an anime out of because it was never planned to be in the game in the first place and also has nothing to do with the main story, anything important from the movie is learned in the game. VR has nothing to do with the main game, the phone things are literally irrelevant to the main game entirely. A kings tale is a non canon fairy tale that has nothing to do with the main story. Comrades is a multiplayer expansion that isn't the main story of the game either.

The combat feels bad for about an hour, then you figure it out and it gradually gets better and better to the point where it all makes perfect sense and works really well. I know this sounds all apologist and shit, but its just the way I felt with the game. Could it have been better? Yep. I would have rather played teh same exact game but with a nice old classic turn based combat system in place, but it is what it is. Once you get used it it, it isn't half bad at all.
