Kill yourself, whether or not you like the story mode, the gameplay is still miles better than the other originals by a long shit. EO1 and 2 were pretty shitty, it's a wonder they made it to 3 were the gameplay was something decent, at least for half of the game before subclassing ruined and balance it might have had

Is 5 going to be good? I'm playing untold 2 right now and the dungeon design in just the first strata is better than anything in 4. And I really love having so many classes to pick from with multiple specs, my farming group is just as fun to play as my main party. Untold isn't even the game that did the most long-term damage to Etrian Odyssey, that was Untold 2.
And even in that game, Story Mode wasn't the biggest problem because that at least gave us based Bertrand. The problem is that EO2U suffers from both the greatest Judaism yet and HP bloat that leads to some of the most fucked up balance since the first two games.

No, but V has 2 other similar ways to pick skills: races and legendary names.

Each race has its own skill tree, and will give the character slightly different base stats.

Legendary names are exclusive skill trees, and there's 2 for each class. For example Dragoons have one tree for gun skills and one for defensive skills. Like race they also change your base stats.

Are you fucking serious right now, because EO a bigger autism simulator than Minecraft. 90% of the game I just spend getting every drop without Formaldehyde cheesing and drawing maps. Grimoire Stones mean I need every person to have a perfect skill full slotted max level Grimoire Stone, and even at max level I could barely even get any max slot ones farming rare breeds with the right food effects in place, if I could get those I could at least have spent a year combining stones together to make the ones I wanted but the fucking droprate on the fully slotted ones was horrendous.
