Tekken is still pretty unforgiving to new players. Alot of its concepts will also not be as transferable between other fighters. But you would be able to learn fundamentals such as punishing, blockstrings, mixups and more.

If anything, you should look into Guilty Gear Rev 2. While anime fighters are far from easy to play, the tutorial and mission mode in it is the best I've ever seen in a fighting game. That game will teach you alot of concepts that you can bring into nearly every fighting game you play.

It's not deep, but the gameplay is still fast and fluid. It's NetherRealm's best game since Mortal Kombat 8. Despite what the OP says, the netcode is silky smooth unlike Tekken 7 on consoles. Story modes do matter nowadays OP. NetherRealm has proved that you can make an engaging story mode in a fighting game. Persona 4 Arena's story mode was pretty good too. Even Guilty Gear Xrd 1 & 2 had an entertaining story mode, despite none of it making any sense.

Tekken 7 tried to be like NetherRealm and capture the tone of Tekken 4, but failed. Tekken 7's story is awful, even by fighting game standards. The fact that Harada retconned Heihachi from an iconic villain, to a tragic shonen anti-hero proves that Harada shouldn't direct a story mode in a fighting game ever. This wouldn't be so bad if Namco hadn't hyped up the story mode prior to its release.
