Best OS? It might be the best Windows, but even that's a stretch.

I still use Windows 7 because I like old games and I don't want the backwards compatibility to get even worse. As for new games, there are no good ones that actually require Windows 10, so I have no incentive to """upgrade""".

Microsoft doesn't want you to play old games on Windows 10. They want you to buy the latest game from the Windows store for $60.

One time they tried to get rid of Dx 9 in one update and replace it with Dx11 emulating it, if I remember correctly.

A lot (but not all) of games that used Dx9 became unplayable with issues like frames not going past 10 and the only fix was somehow trying to restore or reinstall Dx9, which for some reason didnt always work.
This issue made me clean reinstall the whole OS just to play a game
You did hear a public outrage when Vista came out. Win7 is literally just SP2 for Vista, combined with the fact that hardware caught up with the new HW requirements.

I have run SFC to check it for "violations" or whatever and cleaned my registry out and all that jazz.

Surveillance of any kind when it comes to my use on a computer is something I'm dead against.
Is it really mine, if I have to have someone watch what I'm doing, what I'm browsing, what I'm playing, what programs I'm using etc?

There's no point in even using a VPN that supports your freedom by deleting logs etc, if your OS already saves what you do and your internet activity.

Two control panels. The Settings section is terrible. Everything is fragmented interested different places that don't make sense. It's clear that there was no cohesive design. 8, 8.1, and 10 are just slapping slightly different interfaces over what is still mostly Vista/7 and it doesn't mesh well.

Microsoft discloses they can record voice clips at will and take random photos from yout webcam
Mistery 25mb packages uploaded at random intervals
Everything telemetry
Telemetry settings reenabling themselves due to the previous point
"Simplified" settings that remove user's control over certain aspects, excessive even for windows standards
Periodical microsoft "we have the resources so a lil bloat is acceptable" treatening to make now modern computers unusable further in time
