The second game was all about how hope, when out of control, fucks up everything and births despair. Hajime at the end clearly states that Future is something that is not bounded by strict logic of hope or wild emotion of despair. It's essentially like being a filthy centrist.

Hope and despair are literally just your own personal feelings and doesn't affect the world around you beyond the extent that it affects your mood (it might also affect the mood of the people around you if you're the type who won't shut up about your feelings). Reality has an element of baked in indeterminism baked in so it's always good to have margins of error in your plans.
