Nothing cost 60 bucks besides Tekken 7 and i2 and both are shit

Sfv , there literally not other fightan as braindead or simple as it.

Real question is why would you play shit when theres other good fightan gaems
>>
Street fighter V is decent for starters and has a "big" playerbase meaning you'll match up against other scrubs
Guilty Gear has a really good tutorial and is a solid game, however its really hard to get good and most of the people you match up against will perfect you
Skullgirls also has a great tutorial but its a dead game
Jojo heritage to the future if you're a jojofag
You could also wait for Dragonball Fighter Z made by the Guilty Gear devs if you're into dragonball. If it plays like GG (which it looks like it will) then it'll be great.
The most important thing is just to find a character you like. If you dont like anyone in street fighter then you should move on and try another game
>>
If you dont have a high frustration tolerance I'd advise you to not get into fightan. Otherwise therell be one more person doing

Fighting games aren't like other genres. There are no forced 50% winrate, and a new player lose. Like, a lot. If you're unable to enjoy games where you're losing, then your spirit will be crushed and you'll end up like >>385614741 describes. More than in any other game, you MUST play for the sole purpose of improving instead of winning. That one move you're struggling with suddenly landed but you lost? Great!
Just be prepared to lose and the game you play wont matter, you'll be fine
>>
Street Fighter V if you want to learn the basics of 2D AND play online. It's by far the most accessable game. If you want the heavy, hardcore stuff, Blazblue Xrd Rev 2 has an incredible tutorial - as do Skullgirls and Killer Instinct, but their communities are too good for you to compete against. And before anybody tells you otherwise: Street Fighters III and IV are TERRIBLE first fighting games.

For 3D fighting games, if you want the most accessable game, play Soul Calibur 1 or 2; or alternately Dead or Alive 5. If you have a PS2 or just a PC strong enough to emulate it, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution has the best tutorial mode ever in a 3D fighting game. Despite the fact that Virtua Fighter is absolutely NOT for begginners. Or you can just get Tekken 7 and learn the ropes in arcade mode. It's a perfecy viable way to learn fighting games.

Then after a while, you can try out some fighting games by SNK; maybe you'll like them.

But whatever you play, in the begginning you WILL lose to other people. Just bear with it until you become experienced.

By the way stay away from BlazBlue, shitsucks.

It's a difficult question to answer, as it also depends into what kind of things you like (2D vs. 3D, complex commands vs. simple commands, western stylized art vs. japanese stylized art). If you look up "Friday Night Fisticuffs", on youtube, they have played casually just about every version of fighting game out there. Mind you their commentary varies, but you can check out the games and try out the ones you like.

You'll always fight against the same people in a fighting game, especially in smaller communities. And people usually dont mind playing against somebody worse unless you start raging and crying because you're not winning. If you're cool with losing then there's a ton of respect to be earned, however it can be really discouraging getting crushed all the time.
Also your opponents most likely considers themselves bad, as there is always a bigger fish

Uniel is a good choice. Three buttons for most moves, A B and C. C version of moves usually spend your EX meter. Each character only has a few specials but they're all used in multiple situations so you get to learn to deal with shit without needing to dedicate time memorising movelists. It's an anime fighter but much more grounded than others, so you won't be airdashing constantly at breakneck speeds. It'll provide strong fundamentals and allow you to easily transition to both anime fighters like xrd/blaz and things like street fighter.

There's a new game coming out in the west either end of this year or the beginning of next, as well as a big crossover game so if you find a character you like you'll be able to play them in relevant games for at least a few years. It's perfect as a first fighter IMO.

Guess how it feels when you flip it on them and now you're untouchable in fighting games.

>>
Sfv is the easiest and has the most players, Tekken 7 if you want a 3D fighting game.

If you want to get into anime, GG has a great tutorial, but it has less players than the major games. Joining a discord would help.

If you're very cheap you can try some free games, fightcade has a bunch of games like old SF and old kofs. Or you can try melty for anime games, these are all free and have the best netcode.
>>
>>385609061
Injustice 2

Or if you plan on taking it seriously the latest Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2 game has hands down the best tutorial in a fighting game and is excellent to learn the ropes and basics for pretty much all fighting games.
After that you can move on to the game of your choice if you don't like Guilty Gear.
>>
>>385614367
Injustice 2 is a good game and offers tons of content for your money.

You don't even have to play online to get tons of fun out of it. It has the best fighting game storymode ever and the Multiverse is great to play after that.

The story is complete garbage and fighting games are literally only good for fighting other people. Only retards care about extra shitty fluff modes.
>>
>>385620653
>The story is complete garbage

No one with a brain will take you seriously, especially when you don't even back them up when you're going against the general consensus.

>and fighting games are literally only good for fighting other people

That kind of mentality is why they will never be mainstream. You're living in the past and you think barebones games at 60 bucks is fine, that having absolutely horrid SP content is fine, that absolute trash is fine. Why? Because it's a fighting game. Settling for shit is dumb.
>>
>>385609061
the fighters on the neo geo pocket color or "Pocket Fighters" on saturn. they all have simplified controls so most combos can be done with either a punch or kick button instead of 2-3 each.
>>
>>385621002
No one with a brain takes the story seriously. It's literally made for retards.

>get thousands of hours facing other people
>lol thats not worth 60 dollars fuck that!
>3 hour cinematic story
>omg take my 60 dollars

Literally retarded.
>>
>>385609061
Any arcs us games if you ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION TO THE BEST FUCKIBG TUTORIAL EVER.

For real get Guilty gear, even blazblue central fiction is on sale for 17.99.
>>
>>385609061
Tekken 7 is super easy to get into, because it plays smoothly even if you have no idea about combos and shit. You maybe learn 1 move and you can go from there even with just basic attack chains.

Street Fighter V-IV is too hard. Everything is janky. Gotta know the whole lot of combos to be viable in online and if you chain up a move with a non-combo move, you end up breaking it and then you get pummeled into oblivion. It's super janky.

Skullgirls is decent, it teaches you a lot if you're a newbie through tutorials but online mode can be hell, because it allows for 100 to 0 combos you cant do shit about.

DOA is good for fapping
>>
>>385621728
>>get thousands of hours facing other people

This is MOBA player logic right here.
Using your logic you would happily pay 250$ for a barebones fighting game.
>>
>>385621728
>No one with a brain takes the story seriously. It's literally made for retards.

You just proved that you shittalk things you have no clue about. That sounds really intelligent. I'm sure your mommy and daddy are proud of having such an intelligent manchild in the family.
>>
>All this people suggesting dead games
Playing with the AI won't teach anyone anything except maybe some execution, but that comes naturally with time

You should probably look into some new fightans that just came out or that are going to come out soon, they'll surely have enough scrubs for you to play with while you get better
Choose the one you like the most and go for it, the most important thing is that you enjoy it, otherwise you'll just drop it and never git gud

Killer Instinct has one of the best tutorials out there. It teaches stuff that can be applied to a lot of other game, not just KI-specific things. It teaches stuff like cross-ups, mix-ups, how to read frame data, and a ton of other things.

Plus, it's free to download on Xbone and PC (Windows store only right now, but coming to Steam soon). You'll have to buy characters, though, either in packs or piecemeal. Jago (The shoto) is always free and there's a rotating free character every week.

The only thing that I can think of that might be a con to this is the community. While the game itself is really good, it only has a fraction of the playebase of something like SFV. That being said, I haven't found it a problem finding matches.

On top of all of that, it's got some of the best sound design, IMO. A lot of the music is second to none.

(one of my favorites)

Wow this thread is awful remember me to never ask you babbies about fighting games, if you want a real fighting game get tekken, Sf and all the other brain dead 2d fighters are trash and lets not even talk about smash
>>
>>385624942
he wanted something noob friendly, if you want good recommendations i wouldn't specify such a thing as most of the more popular fighters are generally not noob friendly.
>>
Don't listen to anyone saying to start with SFV, it will teach you to both play like a retard, and not have fun.
>>
>>385626030
The challenge to try to get good at SF us fun, but once you reach a certain elite level (which takes months to years depending on how much you play) it becomes boring
>>
>>385624061
I can appreciate Killer Instincts especially at the end of season 1 and all they did in season 2. I think the vanilla roster was boring trash. Each character after skeleman had unique and interesting mechanics integrated in them.

As much as I can appreciate the game mechanically stylistically to me it is unattractive. I have friends who love the aesthetics and the audio direction and it does not click with me. It suffers from that western direction of DARK GRITTY METAL. No problem I turn down the music, effects, and announcer oops audio cues are important for the breakers fug. I also want to get into that items and character building mode but the story gets in the way of my enjoying it.

I should just play training and online vs I guess. Hisako and Grall are really cool even though I have no idea how to play grall or thrall. There's also that blood lady that was released a lil while ago who has an air dash.

The game started off really sort of milquetoast among western fighters feeling really close to the recent MK releases and Injustice but once they got going in season 2 it opened up to anime fighter concepts which made the already solid mechanics stand out.
