I wish literalfags and JPvoicefags would just learn japanese so they wouldn't cry in every thread.

O-okay...
>>
>>385588357
there is no way a language that relies so heavily on context and verbal ambiguity wouldn't have subtitles
>>
>>385587925
I learned Japanese but stopped liking video games and anime in the process.

I think it makes sense: I don't like most English plebeian shit like superhero movies or Game of Thrones, so why would I like Japanese plebeian shit like Persona and anime? It just took understanding the language to realize that they're the same brand of YA crap.
>>

This, they plaster the words all over the screen on every TV show to the point of obnoxiousness
>>
>>385589019
Exactly, people think jap voice actors are so much better than dub voice actors when really it just sounds better because you can't understand them.

/a/'s buyfag guide doesn't have any real info for untranslated books/manga. Anyone have any good sites, or is amazon.jp the only good one? Mandy's got a good selection, but they're not good for browsing. I've been meaning to pick up a couple Neko no Dayan books for a while. Are they easy enough for a beginner to struggle through?

Japan has no restrictions on buying real estate as a foreigner. Been thinking about buying an apartment over there and spending a few months a year there with my wife

Authentic Japanese citizens don't use a first person pronoun in that context.

How's the housing market? How much is it for a reasonable sized home in the country side? I've had dreams of retiring to Japan and owning a small rice farm ever since I saw that documentary of rice fields throughout the various seasons.

Keep in mind I like in Shitholefornia where the average 300sq foot crack shack costs $450,000.

I've only done research in the big cities as I do not plan on purchasing a car but you can find a decent apartment in a major city for around ~150kUSD. Now keep in mind these are tiny compared to what we're used to in the US. For the countryside I wouldnt know but here is an english based Japanese real estate site which may be of use.

Grandia 3 doesn't, which is why no one bothered making an undub.
>>
>>385590673
>>385591004
As a side note, I expect a housing crash in Japan within a few years. The declining population has been balanced out by foreveralones who live by themselves instead of with their families but it has to come down at some point.

>>385592269
Go to the DJT thread in /jp/ and grab their resources. Nobody pays for Japanese lessons.
>>
>>385590629
>>385591806
The concept of flashcards is awful for learning a language, the only reason that makes it so prevalent is the scoring points that let dumb Amerilards feel like they're "advancing".

If you really wanna learn, read the grammar books (repeatedly until you understand the rules) and then read things with the help of a dictionary. Any other method is a lie, and you're crippling your learning by focusing on knowledge that can be easily measured instead of knowledge that's actually useful.
>>
I only learn languages of countries I plan to travel to and even then it's barely conversational. I just learn enough to get the "at least you tried" appreciation. Almost everyone speaks English anyway.
>>
>>385592391
But Anki has no points and the points are one of Memrise's worthless online features. Spaced repetition programs are pretty much the best thing out there for rote memorisation, which is what kanji entails.

Whenever a new DQ game comes out in Japan or is localized it becomes a topic of prevalence.
>>
>>385592593
That doesn't matter. Human waste can also learn languages.
>>
>>385592391
Anki cannot be beat for raw exposure if you're not in the country and interacting with the language all day long. Not sure why your obsession with America plays into this, either.
>>
>>385592523
Points was more of an euphemism, anki does let you track your "progress" though.

>Spaced repetition programs are pretty much the best thing out there for rote memorisation, which is what kanji entails.

This is completely useless. You will learn the kanji anyways by just reading, but instead of associating it to a fixed meaning from a flash card you will learn to associate it with the flexible contextual meaning that the language actually gives it.
>>
>>385592269
>I'm a fucking waste of human meat and flesh
Mate, I think you got some bigger problems to work out before tackling learning a new language if that's how you feel about yourself.
>>
>>385592861
>You will learn the kanji anyways by just reading
You will not remember anything but the most common kanji like that and anything you don't see often you will have no way to remember. Memrise's question / answer format also improves your ability to distinguish similar looking kanji.

>You will not remember anything but the most common kanji
Like a japanese natural then.
You really are putting the horse before the cart here m8, and I guess you won't abandon your dumb system anyways so there is no point, but remembering obscure kanji that gets barely used is not particularly useful for reading/playing/watching japanese things. It's simply much more important to grasp how people use words, than how they particularly draw them.
