I bought a $40 wireless mouse, and due to the short battery life, I instead bought a $7 Amazon Basics mouse. The difference is obvious. The Amazon mouse barely moves, while the $40 mouse can shoot across the screen in a second.

The precision is fine, it's the user's accuracy that's the issue here. I used to do the same thing back when I played shooters on console. The joystick precision is completely fine, the issue was my thumb wasn't dexterous enough to make the motion I needed to make, so strafing was an easier way to fine tune the horizontal motion of my crosshair.

Because drawing with a mouse feels awkward and unnatural. Try putting a pencil lead on a piece of paper, putting your open palm down on the paper, and writing a sentence by dragging the lead around with your palm.

It can be done, but why would you bother when writing is already so much easier?
