I often get them mixed up but MP1 handled stars the best. Having bowser switch places with toad after every purchase was fucking hilarious when multiple people were close to the star. I think it was MP2, but it had actual themes and costumes which was a really nice touch. Also it took the good mini games from 1 and reworked them to not have the shit that required you to wreck your hands/controller. MP3 improved the mini games from 2 and just straight up added more. It lost the costumes though which was sad. All the games after those were just ok. Everything from the wii and up is an abortion though.

The entire formula is thrown out the window. The best MP is 7 because it has the best stages. Pagoda Peak, Windmills and Pyramids are the best levels with interesting and unique dynamics.

The minigames are solid, but I could use more of them. 8 players is total madness.

Literally capsule fuckup board the game.
They got away with making bland and boring maps that were longer and more spread out than necessary because you're supposed to "redecorate" the map with your capsules. I thought it was a good attempt but I did not enjoy it as much as the first 4, and consider it one of the weakest I've played.
Some minigames were good, but mostly bland to weak games.
