IPS has to do with color accuracy. It has nothing to do with resolution. IPS screens just look better, no matter what resolution they are. But they don't make them anymore anyway, so even if you get a N3DSXL, it won't have IPS

I don't think you have any idea how production works. Take the New Galaxy model for instance. These are actually the old blue models that didn't sell, They put a new cover plate on them but they were actually made years ago, which is why the new galaxy has more IPS screens. They also have a certain inventory of screens. If you weren't aware, Nintendo doesn't actually make any of the hardware. They just assemble it. So what I should have more accurately said is they stopped buying IPS screens. But that doesn't mean all of their IPS screens in their entire supply chain suddenly vanish.

I'm really happy you got an IPS screen but you don't have to become so offensive. Pearl White isn't even a color that's available here. There isn't a single report of a black or new galaxy (the only colors still in production in the states) having an IPS screen. Yes, people still find old models like Pikachu with IPS, but just because they buy a Pikachu today does not mean it was made yesterday. It's a discontinued model.

I don't use 3D either, but in some games (like monster hunter), if you keep 3D enabled (but not active) the game uses some kind of AA that makes the game look a bit less shit.

You can disable 3D entirely (so the 3D letters led are off), or disable AA in the game options and see how shit it looks then.

I wonder if this new2DS will keep that AA thing even if it doesn't have 3D
