Go for Super Smough, he's much easier. Basically he has only one super-dangerous move and it's very easy to see coming.

Seriously, they even ported superornstein to DaS2 with very subtle chanes in terms of moveset and that fight was a total pushover. All you have to do is keep an eye on Ornstein while strafing in the opposite direction of Smough.
Defiled Amygdala is a harder bossfight and Amygdala is not even that tough.

You're talking about the Chalice Dungeon Amygdala right? Because that fight is VERY difficult and much harder than anything in Souls or the base game of BB.

Am I a scrub for summoning solaire to help with the Bell Gargoyles? I'm playing through for the first time and so far that feels like one of the few legitimately unfair bosses in the game. Getting attacked from two sides, one being continous fire was bullshit.

Get the zweihander for high stagger and good damage in a single hit. Don't go crazy on stam usage. Hit and run until ornstein is dead. Once biggy powers up, he will spam an insta kill charge attack. Hide behind a pillar, poke out, hit him, then hide behind pillar again. Good luck.

It took me a bit, but once you understand how it works it becomes pretty trivial. You sidestrafe at medium range and wait till it lowers its head, then bop it and retreat. You can also try and jumpcheese it but thats a bit risky before phase 3 when it tears off its own arms and loses the ability to hit stuff behind its back. Besides, having a 50 vit milestone can make it even more trivial since most attacks until the last phase wont even oneshot you.
If you do FRC roots (and you have to if you wanna get the best gems) there are much more bullshit fights like HMPH HMPH, Abhorrent Beast, Loran Camerabeast or Ebby, at least in my opinion.

Him being way bigger than old dragonslayer and creating a huge electric explosion that's far more likely to hit you, old dragonslayer died in less than a minute when I first got to him despite me not grinding at all. He's nothing compared to super ornstein.

Yes, except they still have almost exact same moveset. The key differences are:
>Superornstein has a slow lightning projectile attack, Old Dragonslayer supposedly has a dark one as well which he never fucking uses for some reason
>Old Dragonslayer has a 3-hit swipe combo which Superorny lacks
And thats it. The only thing that made Superonrstein supposedly harder were inflated numbers, or rather Old Dragonslayer was an underpowered early game boss with not enough damage/HP. Either way, the disparity in terms of moveset is not drastic enough. Once you know the moves, he is just as much of a pushover as Old Dragonslayer. Only difficulty comes from the first half of the fight, and even then its just a matter of playing unlocked and looking for your surroundings.

black knight sword, makes the entire game trivial and has a boring moveset, but hey the damage is worth it if you're lucky

First time I killed them was my first time fighting them solo.
My build was full havles with his shield and bkh+3.
I just blocked and then countered every hit and fat rolled when I needed to.
My next playthough I was using light arm or and smaller weapons and it took me over 10 trys and summons.
