I can by disagreeing. Too many 3D platformers abandon 2D style level design for a more sandbox-like approach. While that might put Crash in a "stepping stone" position of sorts I do wish more 3D platformers tried to be actual platformers like the Crash trilogy did, and Crash 1 was by far the most traditionalist of the bunch. Definitely has its flaws and the remake fucking the collision detection doesn't help but I still admire its simplicity and healthy challenge, just a basic run-and-jump with an extra dimension.
