He plays without gyro controls which is a big disadvantage. Of course he can't aim using just analogs, it's damn near impossible. It's like playing PC FPS games using just touchpad. Sure, you can - but you should not.
Now once you actually get used to the kind of weird gyro control scheme (left-right on analag+gyro, up-down just on gyro) the aiming is pretty easy and precise (much more precise than most of the other console shooters I've played).
And while it's true some weapons do not require aiming (slosher, octobrush), there are others for which aiming is critical (rifles, dualies, etc).

Splatoon just doesn't have any auto aim which is indispensable in other console shooters because analog aiming is hell.
Turn off auto aim in any other shooter and you won't be able to hit the broad side of a barn.
Motion controls are so much better.

most console shooters use aim assist which is why aiming with just sticks works fine - you don't need to be precise, all you need is to move cursor in the general direction of your target and aim assist will do the rest of the work.
Now Splatoon does not have any aim assist, which means just analog aiming is way to inaccurate (and yeah, I agree that with analogs you can't aim for shit), now here's where gyro kicks in - by tilting controller you can compensate for this inaccuracy. But it takes a bit to learn it, I'm sure dunkey went something like "Nope, I don't like this gyro stuff, let's turn it off" and then proceeded to complain about inability to aim.

Heavy Splatling in Splatzones.

Outranged everybody and painted the whole zone while suppressing/supporting against attackers.

Bonus for me because the rotation was "The Reef" and "Sturgeon Shipyard" and both of those levels have amazing spots for me to abuse my Sprinkler on the zone.

I'm now A in Splatzones and B in the other two.

Ink Resist is basically mandatory in Rainmaker. Aside from that, knowing how to handle the RM is important. You should be charging up shots and creating a frontline of massive bomsb that your team uses to push forwards and earn turf for you travel along. Object Shredder gets a special shoutout in the mode too. Amazing for shield wars.


Tower Control is just about teamwork. Though a Blaster can be a force of nature because of how effective that are for clearing the Tower. Quick Respawn and Quick Super Jump are great here.

The only tip i can give you is to look at the fucking map and flank the shit out of shitters while reducing their mobility. Tower and Splatzone both have a relatively stationary objective while Rainmaker can use the whole map.
