I played generations on 3DS and it took me 10 hours to realize I fell for the monster hunter meme. I don't understand how they came with such a good video game premise and just botched it with awful controls, horrible grind, and a camera more challenging than anything in the actual game.

That being said I'll give MHW a try because hopefully a return to console will bring about desperately needed change to the formula.

I main Hunting Horn, Gunlance, and Greatsword. In that order.

My favorite monster of all time is the Barioth. I love that fucking icecat. But the Barroth also holds a very special place as it was the first monster that truly taught me what the game was about way back in Tri, and finally beating him was one of the hypest moments of my gaming life.

MH4U was the best, Generations was fun but it was like candy compared to the Venison and Loaded Baked Potatoes of 4U.

However Moga Village is the best hub of all time.

I think World looks amazing and have literally never been more hyped for a game.

The trend is definitely that Adept/Aerial moves are making SOME sort of comeback for some weapons. Looks like LS has an adept style counter, and DB definitely have some form of aerial attacks, so it's not unlikely.

PC version isn't too delayed, Lance doesn't get anime'd, fewer microtransactions than I'm expecting, less emphasis on small monsters and "muh immersive ecology experience" like the trailers are trying to make the game look, difficulty of monsters increased to compensate for the tweaks that make the game less pick and choosy.

It's called iterative game design. There's nothing wrong with taking good ideas from not so good games. Devil May Cry 3 copied a lot from 2, and it was the better game for it. You really don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water when you make a game like this, hunter styles aren't an awful idea, they're just poorly implemented because, you know, B team.

Both of them are good monsters conceptually. The Khezu is cool because it's kind of like a half evolved worm that never really managed to evolve to the point of becoming a full blown wyvern, so it's just a fucked up amalgamation of different creatures, and I don't need to tell you why the Tigrex is a fucking cool monster.

Tigrex in the other hand was my nemesis in FU, and I see it as a cool rival that keeps getting upgrades and super forms to defeat me, Molten tigrex was really fucking cool fight.

Both tigrex and Khezu are weak to my main weapons so it is not a pain to fight them.
