So this game is having a free weekend in a couple hours. Honestly it looks like complete shit but I'm willing to give it a chance.
Thoughts /v/?

Fantasy Strike is trying to do what Rising Thunder didn't and simplify fighting games significantly. It's unclear if it'll ever set a trend. The funny thing is that I played the original YOMI card game (and even the Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo knockoff Puzzle Strike), and they were okay tabletop games.

i'd try it if my connection wasn't so shit

It's fun and there's still depth. Make sure to play withif you have anyfriends.
>what Rising Thunder didn't
This is why RT was surprisingly decent, I really don't see FS having any staying power

Rising Thunder had one button specials and supers, but there was still an execution barrier for combos, mixups and the like. I'm not sure what Fantasy Strike does to address that.

exactly, though it's free and only 500mb so I'll give it a fair shake

There is a huge depth regarding execution. Every character is balanced and can combo. Plus, Yomi Counter where you need to read your opponent's grab so you counter it.

looks like shit, I'll pass
>not F2P
Seems like a huge mistake to be honest

The only money they could make if it was f2p was from character skins.
That is not enough to maintain a game with less than 10 characters.
More characters are not an possibility.

This game features the core roster from the original YOMI game, which was never more than 10 characters.

I know, that's why going F2P would never work.
They should maintain the current format.
