So I just finished reading a fantasy book series that I really like, and whats so great about it is that after the second book the MC has become so powerful he just becomes another political force and it becomes this cast of excellently written characters with detailed narratives and wildly different motives who are all major political powers.

Are there any games where the focus is on the political interplay between the characters? Something like civ but with much more focus on narration and storytelling.

FFXII was pretty political, one of many reasons I enjoy it so much.
>>
Crusader Kings 2
>>
>>385395259
I agree, but its not really what I'm looking for, I'm looking for something where the political actions I take and decisions I make a difference. Ideally the primary focus of the game should be political intrigue.

>>385395768
Then definitely go with anons crusader kings 2 suggestion

>read dark fantasy series about a necromancer
>deals with Satan, Hell, vampires, and a lot of Lovecraft stuff
>no games where you play as a necromancer

I could do with a name of said fantasy series about a necromancer.

Johannes Cabal The Necromancer. It quickly became my favourite series.

There's a rather...interesting 3-book series similar to this, but for the life of me I can't remember the title/name.

Essentially its about the politics/societal conflicts that occur when two medieval-fantasy alternate dimensions start overlapping and invading eachother. There are some battles, but the focus is much greater on the lives of the people going through it, primarily on some genericstableboy#5102 who gets handpicked to learn magic.

Series essentially follows no-name kid from being a nobody wannabe mage to ruler of fan entire faction because he's a special snowflake. It's campy and a tad self-inserty, but a good read. All else I can remember is the first book is solely about him, his wizard tutor, some cocktease jailbait princess who wants his D and that he has super magic casting abilities. Not much to go on.

you are talking about magician, right? The Mc's name was Milamber? The riftwar saga is the series.

I'm OP by the way, this ones a really good you like good books and I like you <3
>>
>>385398384
No problem. I should note that it's more of an "Adventures of" series, where each book is its own different story, and each one concludes itself. There's still an overarching plot, obviously, but it's nothing like the book you mentioned.

For instance, the first book is about Johannes making a deal with Satan, where he gets to keep both his soul and the power of necromancy if he gets one hundred people to willingly sign their souls away. Then the second book is a murder mystery, but a very interesting one that would be spoilery to go into detail. The main appeal is the characters and the way they interact with each other.

That is right up my alley. I'm really glad you shared this with me.
>>
>>385398887
Don't mention it. I'd also strongly recommend the short stories. In fact, the fifth book is infinitely more enjoyable if you read the novella "A Long Spoon" beforehand.

Enjoy.

Hey OP, do you also remember a saga of books about different kingdoms in a medfan world, with some sort of "gates" between the kingdom to make travels faster, and each gate being guarded by knights in magical armor?

I remember that it had orcs as cool sailors and some edgy teen banging the elven queen
>>
>>385399059
that describes a lot of books ive read, do you remember anything about the plot?
>>
>>385399401
I think the main character was this bastard kid that had some sort of birthmark on his face. The gates were magical and functioned like time travel. There was a human kingdom, and elven kingdom, maybe dwarves? I don't remember

Honestly it's pretty old, but these orcs as a people of sailor were cool
>>
Mount and Blade Warband, to an extent. Especially with some choice mods. Once you're army is built you can talk to other Lords and try to persuade them and such. And beyond that it's an all around great game. Check it out if you haven't before, OP.
>>
>>385399560
Is it Orcs: First blood?
>>
>>385400306
>Orcs: First blood?
Nope. Oh well, thanks for trying OP. I've been trying to remember the name of that book for a decade, but now that I try to summarize it, it sounds like generic schlock
>>
>>385401023
I'm not giving up because it sounds super familiar.

Any more details you can recall would definitely help.

I HATE when I get stuck trying to remember the title of a book for months.

Ironically enough I was looking for the title of >>385398646
for years until about 6 months ago.
>>
>>385401183
well the book was from the viewpoint of that kid bastard as I said earlier. The magical gates between each kingdom were protected by knights that were given magical armor, and one of his edgy friend became a knight, I think. The elven kingdom was ruled by an elven MILF queen that was kinda lonely and sad, and eventually the edgy friend started banging her, which made a lot of political troubles
