My fondness for MH is dwindling a bit with recent experiences on 3DS.

There are no more load screen between zones. You can't run away and heal anymore, and we don't know the exact balance between consumables and monsters fully. Lance was at it's best in MH3. Since 4 it's stayed the same really. Lance doesn't really change dramatically. Not even hunter arts really make a dramatic difference. So it's reliable and it's always fun imo.

Styles gave different options. Like, as you said, the triple poke with slow wind up for blocks but blocks like you auto counter. Shit like that. You can just stick with normal hunting arts and lance plays the same it always has.

my biggest concerns is that it might end up useless.
