So I looked up the highest CPM I found off a random WoW fight, and it was a rogue - almost half their CPM was from this Shadow Blade skill, which as far as I can tell is just something you hit once every 2 seconds for each hand. Same with the second highest CPM I saw, which was Shadow Priest. Discounting the incredibly brainless aspect of just hitting the same button every 2 seconds on top of your other stuff, I don't really see WoW as being mechanically more difficult to play than XIV. They're probably about the same.

XIV plays like most other modern mmos on the market. Hotbar combat, questing. The game is very story driven. You end up gated behind alot of talking and fetch quests. The game starts really slow and I don't feel like it really becomes engaging until around level 40 or so.

Its not perfect but i feel like there's always something to do, be it raids, small group dungeons, crafting, gathering, the pvp even isn't terrible. It isn't amazing but its reasonable entertaining.

Oh I did the msq. Skipped all of the sidequests since they were worthless. I was about to give up in ARR but my FC told me it gets better at 50. I dont remember but i did so many fucking quests just to access HW. and guess what? It was still shit, i cant believe anyone finds this shit good. The story is still mediocre and the combat didn't improve at all with 0gcds. So i decided to just fuck it and boosted myself to 70 as fast as i could with an RDM. O4s was fucking easy, especially with my FC who are just average players. I spent around $100 for this garbage just because a weeb lied about how good it is in /v/. My sub ends this week and i'm glad the ride is over.

Should I bother finishing off MCH or just play SAM or BLM? I main tank and healer but I want something to play when others in the static want to heal or tank. I just hit 65 on MCH and it's pretty fun to play but I'm kinda worried about the end result. Played Blm in ARR and HW.

I mean, the balance isn't that bad, Bard and Machinist offer similar utility and are within 5% of each other DPS wise, probably closer if Bards weren't taken in more groups offering more opportunity for absurd luck/padding. The problem being that Machinist being any lower than Bard is a problem since their utility is clearly not as good. They tried to make a minor adjustment and make it work, but they didn't go quite far enough. Another minor adjustment should see them back in viable land.

It's partly they're shit, the second part is just how the job is structured. The random procs make it so that it's very hard to put out consistent dps. Good rng can bring you a perfectly timed wildfire with the best procs active, bad can make you delay wildfire or just do a weaker one. Sometimes mechanics make you delay or do a shitty one. Sometimes you plainly fuck up in a long fight because you have to pay attention at all times to what procs are activating, is your reload timed properly for wildfire preparation, is you hotshot active, can you execute the optimal cooldown-123-cooldown wildfire, etc.

And reward for all that is meh dps, but if you fuck up ever so slightly you can say goodbye to 500 dps. It is definitely the hardest job to play in this game, not because of the dps, but because of what it takes to play effeciently and consistently.
