Once you get it running properly, don't forget to run diagnostic software and stress test it to make sure it's all working fine.

Also, if you're planning to game online, I'd recommend a wired connection over wi-fi if you can.

Wi-fi's a lot better than it used to be, but nothing beats the sound of mind that comes with a proper wired connection.

Fine let me explain why I'm router-impaired:

I'm currently studdying business and working abroad while renting a basement. The basement has no phone sockets on the wall whatsoever and the house's router sits on the ground floor, where no wire could reach without 4 or 5 extensions. Asking the landlord to open a socket would be far too much trouble for both of us at this point so I'd rather just shell out the 20 bucks for a cheap driver until I'm home again and using a regular connection again. I gotta admit it's kinda fun to boot up TF2, join a south american server and BR the BRs for their hues on my old laptop
