It's self defeating. There's no immersive way to warn the player, and it's jarring to suddenly realize you're supposed to be doing something when the character stops. Either put me in control of story sequences or make them clean breaks.

There is tho. In the vast majority of games that do this, either the hud fades in, or the camera angle changes to the normal gameplay one, obviously signaling that the cutscene is over. This is such a non issue that it's literally never even crossed my mind that it might be a problem. And again, even if it was hypothetically a problem, it's nothing more than a nitpick.
