Just finished FFIX.
Are all Final Fantasy games so lacking in optional content? There's nothing to do other than three fetch quests. You can't even return to half of the locations because they get destroyed as the story happens.
All the rewards you get are combat equipment, nothing original
And is the story progression always the same? As in starts out interesting then it turns into a "saving the world" story? with "plot twist" out of nowhere that happens to the main character along the way?

It was a glitch. It's the only item which completely ignores any variables during the steal check and locks you at 1/256 regardless of circumstances.

Nothing. He's the only thief in the series that doesn't steal anything in the story. He's also a terrible thief, since his spirit is the lowest in the party even though storywise they actually went through all the difficult characterization to justify it being high. I don't appreciate having to waste crystal slots to make him non-awful at it.
