OP here, I'm enjoying the new 'le cinematic' side of Pokemon a lot. It feels full of life and the camera angles are so much better. Not sure I really find the soundtrack as memorable as the older games but it definitely isn't bad. The characters are also a lot more varied and distinct, not really a big fan of any of the starters though but I chose Rowlet despite never choosing grass before

Consider the following:
Change the battle mode from Switch to Set.
When you get the Exp. Share, disable it.
Permit yourself a healing item in a trainer battle only if the enemy uses one first.

Ignore if you just want something relaxing, of course, but I had a whole lot more fun doing this.

My favorite part of a new Pokemon generation has always been discovering the brand new Pokemon. When I'm excited to see something new, walking into a patch of grass and finding a Pidgey or a discolored Meowth is a valid cause for disappointment.
