I agree MGS4 and Peace Walker are shit, but MGS5 is good gameplay-wise (the story is shit though).

Final Fantasy 13 is very good combat-wise. I enjoy the paradigm-system, and how you have to strategize against enemies rather than trying to grind level-ups.
