It's a cardboard game box. Sending that fully assembled in the post is just asking for it to be damaged.
Having it flat-packed makes it more likely to arrived without damage.

That tier wasn't just the box, it was the game in digital form and the box. Can't recall if that tier also included the golden Beck DLC and the soundtrack. And given how the box is for display only, it's better they have you build it yourself because otherwise it could easily get damaged during shipping. Manual not fitting is bad though.
