yeah a lot of lower quality chairs with leather or fabric upholstery have poor longevity, so what you can do is get a mesh chair and then lay a throw blanket or other sheet over it. pic related is the one I got, been using it for years and the mesh hasn't given out one bit.

I literally bought pic related at a garage sale two days ago for 5 bucks. It's in rough shape, but everything works. Washed the shit out of it and put some oil in the mechanisms to stop any squeaking. had to take the armrests off to get to all the crumbs, which was a bit of a hassle because the screws were all coated in Loctite

pretty good so far, but it's only a stop gap until I can get something nicer.

I went to a office furniture liquidator, and nearly every chair there except the Aeron was around 50 dollars. Aeron for over 400. All of them high class, task office chairs. I think at that point you're just paying for the name.

I went with a Criterion, and aside from some padding issues that I'm unsure, the chair is fantastic and saved me 350 dollars.

Funny story, I actually found pic related at a local thrift store and while I had no interest in buying it, I went ahead and sat in it to see what all the fuss is about.

It was the least fucking comfortable chair I have ever sat in. Even something like >>385191197 would be better. I absolutely hate mesh chairs, but I would even take one of those over this fucking piece of shit.

Big and tall office chairs are my preference desu, especially because I like to sit cross legged as much as possible. I know it's probably going to cause me a lot of problems later in life but any other position just feels awkward and uncomfortable to me.

I did sit in it at the store Anon. I would never buy a chair without sitting in it first. I sat in it right after taking that picture and almost immediately was like "holy shit, fuck no."

Maybe the expensive ones are better (this one was like $90 I think) but I kind of doubt it. To their credit, it did feel like a racing seat, but when I say that I mean it felt extremely stiff and unyielding. Damn thing felt like it was filled with molded plastic rather than foam.

yea see that's terrible. The real leather makes it so comfy, and I've had it for like over 8 years now maybe so the leather is nice and relaxed, super duper comfy. It also reclines back hella far, whenever someone sits in the chair for the first time and leans back they 10/10 always get scared and freak out that they're going to fall

I used to work as a contractor in a factory, and one of the stations I went past every day was this desk with like ten monitors and a guy that had to sit and watch them for his entire shift, and they gave him some fucking $2K chair like this but less fancy and even more plush.
