The map cycling could be faster, and staggered, but keeping maps restricted to two known ones, and shuffling them at set times, keeps you able to plan your loadouts and weapon choices accordingly, forces you to experiment with weaponry, and also prevents the community from delving into standard multiplayer behavior that causes things like 24/7 dust2/2fort/nuketown in other shooter titles.

I think there was actual concern that players would just play it non-stop and not play any other modes, which is death for a game like this.

its most about avoiding fatigue. take any multiplayer game and you see that of all the possible maps, people always boil it down to 2-3 everyone likes and shit.

on the same hand giving all the content from the start makes people get bored of the games. dripping it little by little and cycle is the most efficient way to prolong the life of the game

I've never played Splatoon, can you tell me what this means? Can you only play specific modes at certain times of day?

Every multiplayer mode(turf wars/ranked/league) picks two maps for each mode for everybody to play, and every few hours they change the maps.

So you could potentially get 6 unique maps, or there could be some redundancy between the two(e.g. both turf wars and ranked mode have Moray Towers, but the gameplay in ranked will be different because you'll have a different objective like escorting a payload or a flag instead of just inking turf).

I would be okay with them staggering Salmon Run if they replaced it with another coop mode. I only have two other friends that own this game. We can't do ranked, we can't play together on Turf War, and Nintendo decides the best time to host the coop mode is in the middle of the week at starting at 2 AM and ending before any reasonable person could get off from work. It's asinine.

I understand limiting the rewards, but I just want to co-op with my friend every once in a while.
