I have not played ico, but I like both sotc. It and majoras mask play similarly in a cycle which you get items and better abilities, but overworld remains unchanged.
It really feels just good to easily beat obstacles you had trouble with earlier in game.

The ico community is cancerous because they try to make a theory how everything ties together. Might be a cool concept, expect they have to make this theory from smallest details which devs probably didn't even give a shit about.
It is like how fnaf threw some random pieces of events and waited reddit to make a back story for franchise.
