13 years. 13 fucking years and nothing good since then. Why?

If you're asking why there hasn't been any more Vampire: The Masquerade games since then, it's because Troika went out of business, White Wolf was bought out by a company that only makes MMOs, who started development on and then cancelled a world of darkness MMO.

White Wolf has recently changed hands to Paradox, and I suspect that there's a game in development somewhere right now.
>>
Paradox definitely has something cooking. There's also that Werewolf game being made which could be promising by looking at the concept art.

Troika didn't want to make another VtM game. Their projects before closing were an post-apocalipsis RPG and Arcanum 2: Journey to the center of the Earth

I've heard about games like Dogma: Eternal Night and Shadow's Kiss and Vampyre, but their appeal is mostly in how they remind me of Vampire: the Masquerade instead of their own merits. When I take a close enough look, I'm 99% sure that I'll either get bored or irritated with them for any number of reasons (early access, shallow mechanics, etc).

While I had high hopes for Project Vaulderie and felt pretty angry when CCP took it down, it was pretty clear that they weren't going to make progress on it anytime soon anyway. The best I can hope for is just waiting for Paradox's announced Werewolf and hope that it doesn't get canceled.

>"Vampyre"
You mean that Vampyr game?
It will be hot steaming garabge because it's from the devs of Remember me and Life is Strange.
They don't know what subtle writing is, they can't handle adult themes and they can't make anything that's not on rails babby garbage.

check out Bloodlust: Shadow Hunter
>>
>>385141749

I really enjoyed that game for a few hours but the whole dungeon raiding section felt really tedious after a while. There's something about how janky the controls are that doesn't mesh well with randomly generated dungeon levels.
>>
>>385141895
yeah its definitely sort of a b-grade game but i liked it well enough and it never really gets brought up in vampire threads
>>
>>385142149

It's the very definition of an indie game. The developers don't have any strong ties (that I know of) to the major best-selling indies so they just had to struggle to make their ideas work in-game and market it themselves.

There has been a Vampire the Masquerade game recently though?

I saw some screenshots of those games and the writing really felt like it was done by people who weren't native English speakers. I didn't bother to look the writers up to see what their nationalities are, but there was something about the games that just felt really awkward to read.
>>
>>385142387
yeah i know i bought it when it was still early access and kept up with it on steam
i like indie teams if they are truly independent devs and arent in the "clique"
secret of grindea is another game with a great dev team but they are admittedly pretty slow
you can tell that projects like that are works of passion though so they come out more fulfilled than something youre working on just as a job
>>
>>385136707
Because all the money (normies) are still into zombies
>>
I second that, Bloodlust Shadow Hunter is awesome!
>>
>>385143165

Are zombies still that big outside of The Walking Dead or early access games? Walking Dead is (or was) so huge that I almost consider it to be its own thing rather than part of a trend.

I was so excited for that god damn it

blood and wine has vampires as a central theme in it but it's a relatively short DLC. i think vampires as a genre really lost public interest after twilight and co
>>
>>385143393

I only read a few volumes of American Vampire, but I really liked what I saw. Vampires feel like a trend that comes and goes in cycles, so it's really just a matter of time for it to come into vogue again.

I do agree that Twilight caused some serious vampire fatigue though. The Dark Universe film reboot has me curious to see how they're going to handle a new vampire film, even though it's probably going to be just another watered-down action/adventure film.
>>
>>385143663
since the stock market crash the videogame industry became very conservative with the themes in their games. they don't take risks and try really new and unique settings. even rarely used settings like vampires are out of the question the way the market is right now
