I was actually kind of upset Akinari wasn't in the movies at all. If they couldve included any S.Link it should've been his. U wot. The scene with mother is after Blue Jesus is on borrowed time, in the epilogue, just before he dies.
Akinari's final scene is long before final boss, whenever you finish his SLink.
You go meet him to finish the SLink and he basically goes I MUST GO NOW, MY PLANET NEEDS ME on you, gives you his notebook and flies away and disappears implying he was a ghost all along.
Then in the epilogue you meet his mother who reveals if he were alive he'd be 20 years old now and seeing as he was a teenager that further implies he was literally already long dead and just a fucking ghost.
Him being a ghost undermines the entire SLink since all his realizations came post-death and thus ultimately didn't matter other than just helping him move on to the afterlife or whatever.
