always keep enough wood and cut grass in your inventory to build a campfire whenever you're starting to freeze, build a thermal stone and never leave without it being red(hottest). Craft a Beefalo hat, it has the highest insulation of the game, if you found a walrus camp, farm on mac tusk for the sweet sweet walking cane and the tam'o shanter(second best insulation and it provides a sanity boost). You can't grow anything but trees during winter, so stack up on food and maybe hunt for some koalephants. Deerclops is the easiest giant, you can kite him: hit him 2 times and then run away a couple of feet from his attack, then repeat. Overall, Winter isn't that hard, I find summer much worse.

In DST, there's a boss you can find in the desert during Summer, the Antlion. If you don't feed him some rock or trinket(not worth it imo, just kill him) every couple of days, he starts throwing earthquakes at you(the sinkholes) which can potentially destroy your whole base.

Keep trees near your base. Don't keep your base near the postern, as that's where the deerclops roams when he spawns (only applies to dst) If you want to kill the deerclops, use a dark sword. If you do it right you shouldn't actually need any armor. Remember to use keybinds for attacking rather than fucking around with the mouse. Lure a single penguin away from camp and kill it for a quick snack. Make rabbit traps. If you're close to freezing, keep a torch handy and light something on fire, just make sure it's isolated or not something you care about losing. Seek out the beefalo. Stay near a wormhole for a quick hound escape and keep a fire pit on the other side.

Well, people claim it was the best thing that happen to DS and after that Shipwrecked was terrible disaster and Klei has to clean up the mess. This game is missing random shit during seasons so you could have more variants when you play, example: rainy winter or stormy summer, also a bit of randomness in seasons lengths could also be good.

Just play more. I'm not that great but my friend is ridiculously good and she just played a ton. She generally explores a lot in spring and finds *somewhere* to set up base and moves from there. Wormholes are extremely useful and finding gears before winter should be a priority.

Don't underestimate how long you can go just foraging on berries and random bullshit while exploring. You really only have to care about cooking and food efficiency if you're playing Wolfgang or winter since you can't move that much during winter. Get a hammer and use it liberally when exploring so you can drop science machines, prototype whatever you need at the moment then hammer it to reuse the resources later or use it again elsewhere.

The biggest thing I learnt about this game is using the damn shovel. Instead of picking every thing up just dig it up instead.

Dig up berry bushes, twig trees and grass and plant that shit all near your base and soon you'll have more than you'll ever need.

For me I usually sit out by the Pig King, for the obvious reasons and cause for me most times a rock/desert biome is literally my fucking neighbor. That and so many fucking Berry Bushes and trees man. Just clear out a spot so trees don't burn your shit in the summer and just do the usual chop and plant. Unless you got one of those fire extinguishing things, then keep trees if you want.

You have to fight 3 waves of 3 spiders, I' ve just explained how in this post, then attack the nest. One spider warrior will come out, kill him and destroy the nest. The only real problem of tier 3 nests is that it could become a spider queen, so be quick about it

Last time we were almost about to get out of Winter but my MIGHTY BELLY WENT EMPTY at the wrong moment and we failed to fuck Deerclops up.
Generally I really like Wolfie, but we're actually kinda shit at gathering food and he's kinda gimped when the best strategy is to run around starved and only powering up with big foods when you need to go fuck some shit up.
Not that I plan on quitting, practice makes perfect, and Wolfie is the only one we could figure out how to beat the tentacles or herd beefalo with.
