Alright, so I'm interested in Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, but I need the internet to validate my opinions because I'm not sure I want to spend 20 bucks on it as I'm currently a neet. is this game worth buying? discuss
are you willing to pay 20 claps on what is essentially a dressed up Master System game
You can just pirate it now you know.

well I don't have a nostalgia boner for older games but I enjoy sidescrolling platformers. That said I do enjoy the redone visuals. I'm mostly wondering if it's actually a good game.
>>385100214
True but if I like getting my opinions straight from the shitfaucet.

Fine.
It's good. But you're still playing an old Master system game with a new look. That's about it.
>>385100347
It's a legit good game and the animation is great. If you don't care about graphics or animation you can just emulate the original.

Not sure how I feel about them making Wonder Boy some kind of lion. But it's good to see that they had respect for his decision to not wear pants.
wonder boy in monster world is better
prove me wrong!you can't
alright, thank you for the feedback, I will take this into account. Seems like a fun game to grab on the switch even if it is an extra 5 bucks. fuck I'm a shill.
It's one.of the best 8-bit games ever made. And this version is a new high benchmark for retro ramakes.
anon it's not an easy game
>>385100109
The original alone would still easily be worth 20 bucks. It's kind of funny that a game from 1989 is better than 99% of modern games released this year so far.

I'm autistic as fuck about video games. I'm not looking for easy, I'm looking for rewarding. I just spent 435 hours on BOTW and I need a serious palette cleanser. I have to fill the void somehow and all my friends are adults now. I've become a hollow wojak of a man and I need video games to distract me from that.

You probably won't find that much (immediate) replay value in the game. But it's hard to tell. I grew up with the original on the MS, re-bought a copy of the Game Gear version and picked up the PS4 version. I'll get the game again, once I'll pick up a Switch.
It's Wonder Boy 4, but with a slick new coat of graphical and audio paint. If what you want is a remake of one of the first metroidvanias, then go ahead.
>>385100109
It's a perfect remake of one of the best 8-bit games of that era.
There's nothing else to say to be quite honest.
How much do you like retro gaming, because this game is very short, being a Master System remake and all.
It's good. Kinda short, tho and it's not that challenging towards the end. Money holds different value to different individuals so I can't say if it's worth it or not.
Think it could've used a second form for the final boss or something. Imagine if Megaman ended after you beat the 8 robot lords. It's not quite as bad as that but it's in similar vein

Aren't you getting neetbux you virgin? Just eating breakfast and headed to my job where I'm gainfully employed and I can buy whatever game I please.
>>385104427
no, though I'm applying for jobs. wish I could get gibs for being painfully spergy but that doesn't seem realistic. fwiw I have had sex a handful of times and the girls didn't seem too unsatisfied. It's just not like my animes tho
>>385100109
You'll play it once and forget it right after.
Don't bother.
Sure it looks really good, it's smooth and all, but its age shows too much.
It's "basic" in every way possible. Enjoyable for a time, but doesn't worth 20 $.
Wait for a price drop.
Fun game for how old it is. Great graphics
>>385105213
It's basic, but so is Doom, and that thing plays better than pretty much any shooter after it. The point being that "basic" isn't a valid argument in discrediting gameplay value.

This. Dargon's Trap is one of the best metroidvania games of all time.
Not worth 20 bucks if you ask me. The original is there, go play it and form your opinion.
For some reason, I always liked the gameplay and look of the second Wonder Boy game more.
I honestly really liked it. I mean it's pretty much emulating the Master System game just with a nice overly that you can switch between that and the older style (and the music from Master system and remake music). It's not the best game ever but it's pretty fun. There's a good bit of challenge to the game but it's not annoyingly hard like with most 8-bit games of that era.
