It was for me. The 3rd game homages / remixes / completely rips off a lot of Dark Souls 1 gameplay, level design, and lore, that makes it feel a lot more like a traditional "Dark Souls 2".
It does manage to throw a lot of curve balls though and what new ideas it has a pretty creative and oft times hectic.
