1) You have cleared The Depths before entering The Vault, right? They have similar enemies, but it's harder to escape in the latter.

2)V:5 is ludicrously difficult, clear the other 4 levels then try the somewhere else:

*Worship The Shining One (you can switch to her from Elyvilon without penalty), she is very strong against the undead so you can try The Crypt for extra XP, then possibly The Tomb for your 3rd rune

*Worship Jiyva (you can switch to her without penalty from TSO or Elyvilon) and she'll make The Slime Pits friendly and you can simply pick up the 3rd rune

*Worship Lugonu (her altars are rare so begin play as her Abyssal Knight) and get the 3rd rune from The Abyss (also V:5 is a little less dangerous for you as you can escape it to The Abyss)
