>people on /v/ always call every single competitive game casual, dumbed down, no skill etc
>never mention any game that is actually "hardcore"

You play Mario Kart? That's Nice, Casual
I play Skyrim

Don't you know that killing brain dead AI in single player games is the epitome of skill?
>>385055862
If you really want games that don't hold your hand I always have the mental list of
Fallout1/2
Morrowind (easy still)
Dwarf Fucking Fortress
Ninja Gay den (anything before the razors edge or whatever)
A decent amount of Hotline Miami 1 and 2
F-Zero GX
UFO: Enemy Unknown
all I can think of right now
IMO a casual game is a game where you can learn the basic mechanics in a few minutes and plow your way in, even if it is in easy mode. Arcade racing games, some fighters, platform games. A hardcore game would be a game with complex mechanics that force you to learn all kind of shit, be settings in real life, be game mechanics, to perform well. Grand strategy titles, flight simulators, racing sims etc

>SFV is dumbed down

There is not a single person on /v/ that plays roguelikes or shmups so that's probably why

I don't think Morrowind and HLM belong on that kind of list.
But please do add: every fighting game.
