Jokes aside, I get you, OP. Anything for Devs to minimize production costs, even at the loss of such a nostalgic and often times collected piece of useful memorabilia. I feel as if all the little things modern games have trimmed away are making those modern games less memorable than the games of the past
Manuals are redundant if you think about it. A lot of games nowadays, and even awhile ago, have had ingame tutorials that meticulously explain how to play the game. Still, I'd much rather games get rid of that practice and just let me get into the game and have the controls and basic game mechanics written down somewhere else. One thing I really liked about older manuals was when they had introductions for the game's world and story. Favorite one probably goes to EQ1's manual because it's full of lore about the whole game's world and has a bunch of cool pictures in it.

Too bad Spirit of Sanada and Toukiden 2 had no manual (toukiden 2 has 55+ pages online manual though)
