Patriotic Britfag here. Dunkirk was almost a total disaster because of our utterly incompetent leadership deploying two thirds of our army as a show of bravado while being unprepared. If Germans hadn't sat on their thumbs WW2 could and probably would have been lost then and there. Churchill is highly overrated as a leader and the one indisputably good thing he did was not seek terms when everyone else was wavering. The same moronic leadership that lost Singapore and gave us gems like the Africa campaign we should have won easily and Market Garden. We also lost many great and loyal spies because of stupid inter-agency rivalry.
