Red Orchestra 2. A game so clusterfucky and janky it enduces real time PTSD.

I mean listen to these screams.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldNSMnEeKio

Can't exactly speak for the music but my firsthand experience leads me to believe it's the closest a game has come to reproducing the horrors of war( 12 men go into a basement and 2 escape. etc)

Look, i hated Interstellar and its pretentious bullshit too as well as Inception but dont let Nolan's pretentiousness fool you. Hello, I'm Markus Schill from Wargaming Europe, a small independent video game company.

We have an event that coincides with the official release of Dunkirk (2017) from acclaimed director, Christopher Nolan.

The point is to show His Love. Love, at least in Catholic tradition (Mel being a hardcore Catholic), is equal to suffering. This is because to nurture, to create anything - one of the highest virtues - you're giving your own energy, expecting nothing in return. So Jesus came down to us to show us how to follow God's example and he got punished for it. But instead of ending the world, he decided not to retaliate and to show how much he'll bear just to redeem us. There's a reason greatest Love is also the greatest suffering - not only physically, he also took all sins ever and redeemed them - it's because God has to set the highest example. This is Love. If you think it's LOL TORTURE PORN, you're the worst of uneducated plebs.

Since you're autistic:
Any kind of creative work by humans needs to have an emotional component to it. I don't mean a love story nor do I mean sappy melodrama between characters. It can lie in the meta space between the work, its author and expectations of the viewer. It case of Passion of the Christ it's in the bitter embrace of an undeserved horrible fate and the supranatural pathos. There's also a subtext of a battle between good and evil on another level of being, but no matter.

The point is that you're waltzing in here from r/atheism and because you don't believe you're pretending there's no pathos and then accentuate the torture (which is nowhere near as bad as this meme started by jewish reviewers out of all people) just so you can shut it down.

>itt people unironically talk about how historically accurate a Mel Gibson film is

Cool fucking story about how the injuries to Jesus might be accurate since he based them of off the shroud of turin. However, it doesn't redeem him of his complete disregard of history in pretty much every single one of his other "historical" films.

An emotional component doesn't make something automatically good. Again you're just stating shit everybody already gets and masturbating over how much you love Jesus.
It doesn't make it a good movie you absolute fucking mongoloid. Get it yet? Do ya get it yet? Do you?

>Mel Gibson is a great director!
>Completely disregard every other film he has made, just focus on this one example!

Fucking kill yourself.

Oh and by the way. Attention to certain details =/= historical accuracy. For example, in the abomination of a film, Apocolypto, Gibson paid really good attention to detail regarding how a Mayan city would look. However, that movie was the FURTHEST thing from historically accurate.

>>385038170
I get that you're a butthurt atheist that automatically dismissed a widely praised film because you don't like Christians

No, but films have two components; an emotional one and a technical one. Technically, Passion is almost flawless. Emotionally it works, too and I explained to you why it is so.

That movie was a fucking snoozefest. 3 horribly boring storylines, including one where a kid laughably dies from hitting his fucking head. I guess to show the civilian casualties of war?? Nowhere near Nolan's masterpiece as every reviewer reported. Inception and Memento were far better in almost every single way.

>In his positive review, The New York Times A. O. Scott commented: "say what you will about him – about his problem with booze or his problem with Jews – he is a serious filmmaker."[35] The Boston Globe review came to a similar conclusion, noting that "Gibson may be a lunatic, but he's our lunatic, and while I wouldn't wish him behind the wheel of a car after happy hour or at a B'nai Brith function anytime, behind a camera is another matter."

>Apocalypto gained some passionate champions in the Hollywood community. Actor Robert Duvall called it "maybe the best movie I've seen in 25 years".[38][39] Director Quentin Tarantino said, "I think it's a masterpiece. It was perhaps the best film of that year. I think it was the best artistic film of that year."[40] Martin Scorsese, writing about the film, called it "a vision," adding, "Many pictures today don't go into troubling areas like this, the importance of violence in the perpetuation of what's known as civilization. I admire Apocalypto for its frankness, but also for the power and artistry of the filmmaking."[41] Actor Edward James Olmos said, "I was totally caught off guard. It's arguably the best movie I've seen in years. I was blown away."[20] In 2013, director Spike Lee put the film on his list of all-time essential films.[42]

Masterful direction and passion and meaning he puts into it. You can feel how much he cared and you can respect the labor of the whole crew in almost every shot of a Mel Gibson movie. And the movie makes you feel it too. They're also original with how they take on the material and it's not just novelty - it's for the better.

>>385040362
Oh. So it's so simple that only dumb people wouldn't get it. Well I mean surely that means it should be easy to give reasons as to why they are so good. So let's hear it.

>>385040259
What makes his direction so masterful? This post literally is just full of buzzwords. I also don't see how you get that he has an immense passion and respect for his work. One could argue it's actually laziness in regards to the liberty he take with historical accuracy.
>>
>>385036141
>e few WW2 battles that proved that the French weren't all cowards
>>only French character is a guy who tries
That kind of annoyed me also. They made a passing reference earlier in the film about how the French are holding the line and you see the French defending a position in the first 5 mins but the average viewer is probably going to miss that and only see the French as running.
>>
>>385041418

>>
>>385041720

Never said he couldn't direct. I just asked what makes it "masterful". Because I wouldn't exactly call his directing masterful.

Patriotic Britfag here. Dunkirk was almost a total disaster because of our utterly incompetent leadership deploying two thirds of our army as a show of bravado while being unprepared. If Germans hadn't sat on their thumbs WW2 could and probably would have been lost then and there. Churchill is highly overrated as a leader and the one indisputably good thing he did was not seek terms when everyone else was wavering. The same moronic leadership that lost Singapore and gave us gems like the Africa campaign we should have won easily and Market Garden. We also lost many great and loyal spies because of stupid inter-agency rivalry.

People who care about this country really need to stop shielding their eyes from the truth with ancient war nostalgia before the idiots in charge do it again. Neoliberal and Neoconservative warmongers are blatantly setting us up for war with Russia, a stupid and dangerous idea.
>>
>>385042080
I don't think the movie was about the higher ups being competent. It was about the soldiers dealing with the nightmarish consequences of the leadership's mistakes and how the ripples of their suffering reach other branches of the military and the civilians.
>>
>>385042080
How can you and americans be so dumb? Winning isnt the reason this movie was made. Its about desperation and survival.
