Would be neat to have Fromsoft attempt it. Game consists of exploring different dream environments with occasional fight encounters with Freddy. One minute your on Elm street the next entering a Castle or some Hellish realm

I think a silent hill-esque game could work where the dream is supposed to represent your subconcious and there are regular enemies but then it could also play like re3 by having freddy hunt you down.

I think that'd be cool. You could get a good ending by killing a big number of enemies, representing conquering your fears and what not.
It'd be a neat twist on horror games that expect you to run away or kill nothing for the good ending.

If Freddy is the antagonist then I imagine it'd be like Silent Hill. Unsettling areas, Freddy sometimes taunting you, monsters appearing, etc.

It'd be neat if you take too long in a certain area then Freddy will spawn because he's bored and wants to to be done with you since you're no fun.

In the Dreamworld anything can kill you since he controls this world, so everything will keep you on your toes. Executions could be similar to Dead Space or Resident Evil 4, after every death it could just be like the Arkham games where Freddy taunts the player for dying by mocking, making a pun, or just laugh at you for being terrible.
