I'd say both are at least even. I personally prefer M/KB because I rarely use controllers and I like having more control over my camera. Anybody who acts like M/KB is unusable is a retard though. Angling the camera around lets you hit any direction with ease if you're not a mongoloid. It's only anecdotal, but I easily beat the vast majority of people I ever invaded or dueled with while using a M/KB.

The game doesn't really have a high enough skill ceiling to make any minor difference between the two even worth comparing.

I think it depends on the game. For third person shooters m+kb makes sense since it's like a 3rd person shooter just with the camera in a different location. You're still aiming with a mouse. For stealth games analog movement can be advantageous though, a lot of times playing with a keyboard leads to the situation where you have to tap the keys over and over to inch along and hope you don't move far enough to get spotted. Sticky cover eliminates this problem, like the new Deus Ex games and Gears of War, but games with dynamic cover like the new Tomb Raider games I prefer a controller for analog movement.

This doesn't happen in any decent game. Thief, for example, has enough movement options that you'll never get spotted because you moved too fast. You do have to tap if you want to move completely silently on loud surfaces though.

And the benefit is that you always know exactly how fast you're going to move. Most games designed for a controller don't actually have a full range of speeds, They typically only have 3-6 speeds at various thresholds of the stick. So, let's say the threshold between speed 2 and 3 is at 20000 away from the center. The player can easily go over the threshold accidentally.

In DS there is a noticeable delay between camera moving and character turning. I only use the keyboard and its fine. Dark Souls doesn't use precise aiming movements like a typical fps or tps, even freeaiming with keyboard only is decent. If you are used to the controller the analog stick aiming will allow for easier movement/camera controlls. The only advantage to keyboard is how you can do things like quickly lock-on/target switching while dodging, and that barely takes any sort of gameplay toll.
